The Final Cut

Chef vs. Chef, College vs. College. The annual tradition of culinary excellence is alive and well at Yale!
Yale Hospitality has brought together the best young culinary talent on campus with an abundance of
generous food manufacturers ready to feature their finest all in an historic venue for one epic night in
New Haven. The Final Cut embraces our stated mission to create memorable experiences while
highlighting the best that the Yale community has to offer. Far and away the most exciting, best
attended dining hall special event for students all year! Yale Dining meal plan swipe is needed for entry.

The event is held at 5:00 pm, in Yale’s historic Commons Dining Hall at The Schwarzman Center in
the middle of the Spring semester. Students, staff, faculty, members of the greater Yale community,
along with celebrity judges, gather to cheer, dine, win prizes and shake the hands that feed them in
our huge vendor faire!  Shake the hand that feeds you and enjoy their complimentary food samples.

In this event, 12 incredible student culinary teams compete for much-coveted prizes, bragging rights,
and a trophy for their college. This night is the culmination of months of well-attended and much
publicized competitions among student teams.

A staple at this event most years is our own President, Peter Salovey, along with Deans, professors,
coaches and alumni. In past years, our celebrity judges have included Chef and author Joyce
Goldstein, Chef Barton Seaver, editor Chandra Ram of Plate Magazine, CMC and Provost Mark
Erickson of the Culinary Institute of America, and most recently Chef and author Ming Tsai, CEO
Jim Perdue of Perdue Farms, and CEO Danny Meyer of Union Square Hospitality Group.

See you on Tuesday the 21st for biggest event of the year!
